Prof. Ir. Budhy Tjahjati Soegijoko, Ph.D.
Budhy Tjahjati S. Soegijoko was born in Purwokerto on May 18, 1941. She graduated from Departement of City and Regional Planning at ITB (Institute of Technology Bandung) in 1970. She continued her study at Graduate School of Design, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States in 1973 obtaining a master degree (MCP). In 1982, she received a Ph.D after completed her study from Department of Urban Studies and Planning, School of Architecture and Planning, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States.
She was appointed as ‘Guru Besar’ (professor emeritus) in ITB on 2000. Currently she is the Senior Executive Director of URDI. During her active career in the government, her last position was the Director General of Urban Development in the Ministry of Regional Infrastructure and Settlements. Previously, she was the Deputy for International Cooperation in National Development Planning Board (Bappenas).
In her professional career, she is actively involved in various projects and activities in preparing national policies and strategies for urban development in Indonesia. Recently, she was a senior government liason officer in the Decentralisation Support Facility (DSF) program, a multi-donor cooperation program on decentralization issue.
Network Development Director
Ir. Wahyu Mulyana, MA
Wahyu Mulyana is an urban planner/development expert, specializing in urban development, environmental management and strategic planning for local development, with over fourteen years working experiences. He received master degree on urban management from IHS Rotterdam (2001) and his bachelor degree on urban planning from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 1995.
He is the Director of Networking Development in Urban and Regional Development Institute (URDI), an independent research institute in urban and regional development issues in Indonesia. He is also actively involved as member of program division in Citynet Indonesia, a unique network working with wide range of urban stakeholders on local capacity building.
Most recently he has been joining with the Joint Review Mission Team for The Second Urban Governance Improvement and Infrastructure Project (UGIIP-2) for Secondary Cities in Bangladesh funded by ADB, KfW and GTZ (June 2010). Since 2009, he is involved as local governance specialist for the The Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network (ACCRN) Project in cooperation with Mercy Corps Indonesia and funded by The Rockefeller Foundation (2009-2012).
He was the Team Leader on the UNESCAP, Integrated Pro-Poor Water and Waste Water Management in Small Towns in Indonesia (2008-2009) which included developing appropriate strategy for pro-poor water and waste water management and implementing pilot projects on water and sanitation. In the last four years, he has been involved in various training program for local government in Indonesia on the issue of strategic planning for local development.
Program Director
Ir. Gita Chandrika Napitupulu, MCP
Gita Chandrika is an urban and regional development planner with area of expertise in policy and institutionalization analysis, urban development and spatial planning, and strategic planning for local development with more than twenty years working experiences. She has been the Program Director of URDI since 2007. She earned her Master Degree in Community Planning from the School of Planning, College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning, University of Cincinnati in 1990 with recognition (receiving Graduate Student Award) and received her bachelor degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Bandung Institute of Technology in 1987.
Before she joined URDI in December 2005, she had been working as independent consultant in the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas), and in the Directorate General of Human Settlements, Department of Public Works, as well as working with some Donors Agencies (UNDP and CIDA).
She was intensively involved in the process of formulating national urban development strategy and policy with the Ministry of Public Works, including the formulation of Guidelines on Medium Investment Program for Urban Infrastructure Development at local level (2003-2007). Currently, she is involved in the “Institution Building for the Integration of National-Regional Development and Spatial Planning” from Bappenas with funding from DSF-The World Bank (2009-2010). Other recent works include “The Evaluation of Construction Project in Aceh, Indonesia under the JRCS Tsunami Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program” (Japanese Red Cross Society, 2009), “Policy Context and Strategy for Influence”, The Healthy People Prosperous Place Project (MercyCorps, 2009-2010), “Adaptation Strategy and Strategic Planning for Nusa Penida, Bali, Indonesia: A Conceptual Approach for Small Islands Affected by Global Climate Change” (Directorate General of Spatial Planning, Ministry of Public Works, 2007) and several technical assistances and trainings for Local Government on strategic planning for local development (2006-2009).
